My Experience
In 1977, I opened a magic shop. After years behind a counter successfully selling and teaching close-up and parlor magic, the business was reimagined in 2004 as a club, hosting dinner and theater, the California Magic Club, with magical performers from all over the world.
My professional experience also includes public venues, private events, recorded productions, and teaching in person for groups, as well as 1:1 lessons and mentorship. Check out the timeline below for an overview of my professional career.
1969
My hobby of magic begins at 13 years old, and I explore how to perform for an audience (a.k.a. mom and dad). First tricks I learned include linking rings and multiplying billiard balls.
1977
I open a magic shop at 19 years old and begin demonstrating magic for customers. The store experience enables me to become an experienced teacher to many.
1980 to 2000
In addition to running a magic store, I pushed my abilities further as a performer, whether on stage, in restaurants and clubs, or at private parties. I've included a few highlights below:
Table-hopping magic at restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Strolling magic at private parties included performances at local favorites such as Carnelion Room and Bourne Mansion in San Francisco, Monterey Peninsula Country Club, Playboy Mansion Beverly Hills, and numerous corporate parties.
Teach magic by video produced by Magic Makers Inc., and copies have sold around the world (e.g. Complete Card Magic 4 DVD set, Gerry's Lucky Sevens 3 DVD set, Queens Out of Control DVD, etc.).
Credit for magic used by magician David Blaine in his show called Street Magic.
2004 to Present
My store relocates and transforms into California Magic Club in Martinez, CA. Since its opening, my team has hosted more than 1,500 dinner shows featuring close-up magic at tables and nightclub stage shows. The venue has held high ratings and recommendations since its opening weekend (calmagic.com).
